What is a car pool?
A car pool is when 2 or more people share the same car to go to work,
school or elsewhere together. There are no real rules to a car pool,
sometimes people take turns driving each day, sometimes only one person is
a driver and the others share gas/parking money. It is up to you to
decide how to run your car pool.

How much does this service cost?
This online service is provided free of charge.
There may be expenses of your own, such as shared gas
money, parking fees and so on.

Who can use the system?
Anyone with Internet access is free to use this system. Only Calgary
districts are available to choose from when making matches, however. If
you are commuting to Calgary from out of town try to choose the closest
district to you.

How long do I have to wait to get a match?
You could find matches immediatly. Once you register
with us
you can immeditaly post a request, then check your request for any
matches. You can also view all the car pool requests if you wish and
attempt to make a match youself.

How does the computer make a match?
The computer will first attempt to match anyone traveling from the same
district as yourself, to the same district. After that it will match all
those leaving the same disctrict by going to another, then those leaving
from an area other then yours, but going to your location. After that you
will get a list of all the ride requests traveling in the same direction
as yourself.
The matching is by no means perfect and will improve in time as more
requests are added to our system.

Who drives?
This is up to you and your car pool. If you all have vehicles you may
wish to rotate who is driving each day. Or, if only one of you have a car
the owner may wish to drive everyday, or allow one of the passengers to
drive on some days. It is totally up to you how to create your car pool.

What are my commitments?
Your commitments are none as far as Calgary Commuter is concerned.
However, you are dealing with other people who all have commitments such
as jobs or school. If you can not make a car pool for a day or a week it
is up to you to inform the others.

When can I start using the Calgary Commuter?
You can start right now. All you need to do is register
to
get started. Once you are signed in you can start adding ride requests to
the commuter board.

How do I get started?
Just register
and you are on your way. Once you have logged
in for the first time we recommend you start by posting a request. Once
your request is posted you are returned to your workspace where it will
appear as one of your requests. Clicking on that link will show you any
matches.

I have a match, now what?
Now it is up to you to contact them. An online email service is available
when you choose to view a match in detail. Once you have a car pool
arranged you should delete your requests from the board or others may
attempt to contact you. You can choose to delete single requests, or, you
may also choose to deactivate your account.
Once your account is deactivated you may reactivate it again at any time.
However, while you are deactivated none of your ride requests (which will
still be displayed in your private workspace) will be displayed on other
people's searches.
